Microsoft Advertising announces Ad Creator
Microsoft has announced Ad Creator, a new feature that extracts images from your site so they can be used in your ads. Ad Creator and its built-in photo editor can help advertisers that don’t have access to a design team, save time. This is currently in pilot.
Why is this important?
The Ad Creator can help you save time when creating ads by acting as an automated storehouse for your site images, as you won’t have to upload them manually. Visuals within your ads can lead to higher click-through rates and may also help audiences recall your brand/ads.
Open Media launches nationwide QR code campaign with CoppaFeel!
In conjunction with International Women’s day, Open Media, have launched a two week out-of-home campaign encouraging women to regularly check for the signs of breast cancer. The ads contain QR codes that will take women to an app that guides them through how to check themselves and what symptoms to look out for.
Why is this important?
Campaigns such as this example show how ads can raise awareness of symptoms and potentially save lives. The campaign also demonstrates how a simple addition of QR code on impactful OOH can spark a reaction from the audience. The campaign consists of large format premium and 48-sheet ads across central Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Plymouth with additional social media content.
Meta announces new Messenger features to celebrate International Women’s Day
Tuesday 8th March was International Women’s Day and to commemorate this, Meta rolled out some new features on Messenger to both celebrate and bring awareness to the occasion. These additional features include new word effect options, themed custom chat backgrounds, and a couple of custom sticker packs created by female artists. Messenger Kids also has a few additions, including themed stickers encouraging a range of different passions, and new AR masks of both Cleopatra and Marie Curie.
Why is this important?
International Women’s Day gives the opportunity to not only acknowledge, but to celebrate the contributions of women both past and present, as well as highlighting the significance of female achievements whether they be historical or recent. Even these small additions to apps like Messenger can play a useful part in raising awareness for the day itself and what it means, and in turn, reminding people of the challenges women still face in many aspects of life.
Campaign of the Week: Tech start up Elvie champion the power of women's bodies
Elvie has signed up singer Eva Lazarus in an empowering spot that showcases Elvie's smart tech for smart bodies products. Lazarus commented on why she wanted to be involved in the Elvie project "Normalizing all of the associated experiences of womanhood/motherhood are so important and as a new mum I found it liberating to celebrate how inspiring it is that our bodies are undeniably smart and strong. I would love women to take that away from this campaign and feel emboldened. We are magnificent!"
Elvie's goal is to empower and enable women to achieve everything their bodies are capable of, it's time we bust long-standing taboos and create tech that women deserve.
