Queen’s State Funeral watched by 25m on UK TV
Queen Elizabeth’s II’s State Funeral was watched by a peak audience of just over 25 million people on UK television. The funeral was simulcast on BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, as well as pay-TV channels Sky Atlantic and Sky Witness. At 12.15pm, the combined audience for those channels was 25.2m, with BBC One archiving a 63.3% share of audience compared to ITV (15.2%) and BBC Two (6.3%). Overnight figures were made available on the evening of the 20th due to a delay as of the “abnormally high” viewing figures.
Why is this important?
ITV said its main channels peaked with 5.4 million, while the combined peak audience for the ITV family of channels was 6.2 million. The broadcast was streamed by 0.9 million times on the ITV Hub. As a nation, to come together and all watch this moment in history, is a once in a lifetime moment for most people watching.
Google ad extensions are being rebranded as assets
Google has announced that ad extensions will now be rebranded to assets in the Google Ads UI, rolling out over the next couple of weeks. Now, when setting up a Search or Performance Max campaign extensions (assets) such as site links or call extensions can be created in the same step. The preview tool in ads manager will automatically update so that you can see the extension assets for your ads, alongside this Google will also show recommended assets based on your campaign goals. The new assets page will have reports for all assets across the account as well as a new combinations report, which will show how assets such as callouts and site links perform against headlines and descriptions.
Why is this important?
This new reporting will give more advertisers insights into how their campaigns and assets are performing. It will also make managing assets faster and easier, now it can be done in the same step as the campaign creation.
Meta adds new tools to promote emerging creators on the platform
Meta has announced a range of new creator-focused elements, including new endorsement notifications to support fellow creators, new templates to help recognize top fans, restricted posts for subscribers and many more.

These features will allow emerging creators to be get noticed. This will allow new talent to emerge that would otherwise have been overlooked, as well as provide fresh ways to interact with the platform.
Industry pauses to mourn the Queen
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the industry paused its plans and suspended advertising in tribute to the UK’s longest-serving monarch.
Most ad campaigns scheduled to run across the country last week were paused, in some cases, they were cancelled altogether. The decision was taken to pull advertising and pause campaigns as a mark of respect, with images of the late Queen being shown instead.
