Ocean Outdoor unveils Wimbledon experiences at Westfield and Battersea Power Station
Ocean Outdoor have unveiled that their network of digital screens will be showing live action from Wimbledon in addition to their hosting of two experiential tennis-themed spaces. These selected highlights will be shown across 13 UK cities, whilst daily matches will be shown in dedicated spaces at Westfield London and Battersea Power Station. The Westfield activation is being presented in association with Vodafone who are the official connectivity partner of Wimbledon; it features table tennis, a giant racquet seat and a photo booth where the public can create animated gifs which will be featured on Oceans two large screens in Westfield.
Why is this important?
This activation showcases a collaborative fusion between large digital screens and immersive event space, bringing a memorable brand moment to life with the aim to engage and entertain diverse audiences. The Outdoor activity is further supplemented by encouraging the public to share messages of support for the players with #FeelTheConnection across social media channels, automatically entering them into a prize draw to win tickets for next year’s championships. Google Ads Editor version 2.4 is out with 8 new features
Google have released its Ads Editor version 2.4 with several new features and updates. The newest features include: Video asset library, Multi-account view, Google drive integration, Schedule post, Editable product groups and listing groups, one YouTube network, Video enhancement opt-out and download. They have also announced they will be removing the updated validations for geo targeting and exclusion methods feature.
Why is this important?
These latest features will help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of advertisers Google Ads campaigns. Specifically with the new features, advertisers will be able to schedule posts for a specified time, export to or import from Google Drive and modify product groups and listing groups within editor.

Meta confirms name and release date of Twitter challenger app
Meta have dropped hints here and there about their new Twitter-like social app in the past few months – however, Tuesday saw the announcement that the app, named “Threads”, would be launched globally this week. With all the recent changes brought on by Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter, Meta is taking advantage of the opportunity to scoop up the users that have left or are thinking of leaving. As part of their effort to encourage users to switch platforms, they have encouraged celebrities and influencers to be the first to join and start posting, even reportedly sending them an “onboarding guide” with an FAQ and tips.
Why is this important?
Although other apps might have tried and failed to go up against a successful platform like Twitter, Thread’s chances of success are much higher – Meta already run established social platforms, so their approach of recruiting celebrities is much easier than it would be for an unknown app. They have also successfully taken on competitors in the past – in 2016, they significantly halted Snapchat’s growth with the launch of Instagram Stories. Campaign of the week: Chester Zoo highlight their Lanterns & Light trail with enchanting mixed-media film
Creative agency Meanwhile has worked with Sony Music and animation studio Blinkink to create a unique spot for Chester Zoo, teasing their new Lanterns and Light trail that is due to happen this winter. The enchanting film shows a young protagonist who explores the zoo with a magical wintery backdrop, encountering illuminated animals including elephants, dolphins, and lions along the way. The artistic spot was created using a mix of techniques; live action, handcrafted miniature sets were paired with 2D animated characters, and supported by a bespoke soundtrack by music company Major Tom. The ad will be running throughout the year to generate buzz for the event across several media channels.
